About Lakehouse Counseling

It’s not about the couch.

If therapy were anything like tv shows or movies, you’d probably imagine coming into a room and laying on a couch while answering awkward questions about your most challenging struggles.

It’s a good thing we’re nothing like that.

Lakehouse Counseling cares deeply about the moments that matter to you most. That’s why our conversations will center around getting to know you, your values, and your hopes for our work together. We do that authentically because being seen and understood in this world matters.

Understanding conflict is kind of our thing.

Sometimes, people get nervous to talk about just how messy their life feels. We understand that being human with hopes, dreams, and limitations is messy work, but we also have a passion for helping you navigate that conflict.

Whether within yourself or with those you care about most, we hold space for you to bring these challenges into our time together and work alongside you to find new ways of responding to them.

Not all conflict is bad conflict.

Our clinicians understand that not all conflict is the same or created equally. Often these heated moments arise from a deep-seated desire to connect. It is natural to desire peace within ourselves and our relationships, so it’s beyond frustrating when a simple disagreement turns into a battlefield.

We’re here for the healing.

At Lakehouse, we help our clients to step away from the battlefield and reconnect to the desire to be on the “same team.” There’s nothing quite like recognizing that you’re finally back on the same page again. We love celebrating those moments with you.

But maybe it is about the couch?

While beginning therapy may feel intimidating, we want you to know that we’ve “been on both sides of the couch.” We know first-hand what it’s like to sit in a new space and trust someone with our most personal stories and experiences. And we take that honor very seriously. With that, we also know that sometimes it helps to have a little peek behind the curtain of who we are as people.
